To capture the timbre and performance of Blackouts pickups, Seymour Duncan has created the Blackouts Coil Pack, humbuckers designed specifically for use with the Blackouts modular preamp.
Connecting the Coil Pack, or any mic, to the Blackouts modular preamp is an incredibly simple, solderless procedure, thanks to the same locking connectors used in the Liberator solderless mic changing system.
Installation of the mics requires only a screwdriver to connect the mic and drum leads.
The Blackouts modular preamp is an ingenious way to get that high-gain active guitar sound from any passive four-wire pickup.
By simply replacing a volume control with a Blackouts Modular Preamp volume control, you can achieve active pickup performance with a more classic look.
The crunch and wail that defines the modern heavy rock guitar genre often comes from active guitar pickups, which have a built-in battery-powered preamp in a stark black cowl.
