This expressive tone, both clear and intense, comes largely from the pickups that equip his guitar. Seymour Duncan has worked hand in hand with him to provide a set capable of recreating this unique sonic identity, without the need to own an out-of-touch vintage instrument.
What makes these pickups different is their balance. They use Alnico 5 magnets, chosen for their dynamic response: notes come out full, but never aggressive. The highs have that singing brilliance that gives depth to arpeggios, while the midrange carries the playing with great presence. The bass remains defined, even when the volume is turned up or saturation added.
