Sterling by Music Man - StingRay RAY35HH Charcoal Frost

When a bass line needs to carry the track with depth, impact and a real presence in the mix, a StingRay has that certain something that naturally draws the ear. With the RAY35HH Charcoal Frost, Sterling by Music Man captures this essence in a 5-string bass guitar designed for musicians who want to push the boundaries of what’s sonically possible. Its HH configuration delivers a rich and powerful response, with two Alnico humbuckers and a 5-position selector switch that allow you to shape the instrument’s character as the song progresses.

Imagine a funk groove where the bass needs to hit with precision, followed by a rock line that demands more body: the RAY35HH can switch from one to the other without losing that StingRay personality that makes it so charming. The active 3-band preamp adds even more freedom to shape the bass, midrange and treble to suit your amplification and playing style. The five strings also extend the available range, a valuable asset for going lower whilst retaining the possibilities offered by standard tuning. Its 34" (86.4 cm) scale length offers a familiar feel for bassists accustomed to long-scale instruments.

Comfort hasn’t been overlooked. The nyatoh body features rounded contours that allow the instrument to sit comfortably against the body, whatever your playing position. The roasted maple neck offers a smooth feel under the hand and benefits from increased stability thanks to the wood’s heat treatment. Combined with a rosewood fingerboard, a 12" (30.5 cm) radius and 22 medium frets, it provides the left hand with a comfortable surface for navigating the neck. With its Charcoal Frost finish and Parchment pickguard, the RAY35HH finally showcases a understated, modern aesthetic that perfectly matches its tonal character.
