Sterling by Music Man - Ray34 Flamed Maple Purple Sunset

The Sterling by Music Man Ray34 Flamed Maple Purple Sunset is a 4-string electric bass in the StingRay style, recognisable by its double-cutaway body shape and particularly striking appearance. Its maple body features a Purple Sunset-coloured flamed maple top, whose violet hues naturally highlight the wood’s grain. The overall look is enhanced by chrome hardware and open-back tuners, creating a style that is both classic and distinctive.

The bolt-on neck, crafted from roasted maple, offers a familiar feel to bassists accustomed to this type of design, with a rosewood fingerboard and 21 frets marked with dot inlays. This configuration provides a comfortable foundation for navigating the neck and playing everything from simple lines to more demanding parts. The StingRay body style retains a strong visual presence here, whilst remaining instantly recognisable to bassists who appreciate instruments with clean, sharp lines.

In terms of electronics, the Ray34 Flamed Maple features an Alnico humbucker at the bridge paired with active electronics. This setup emphasises an energetic and precise sound, which is particularly effective for bringing out the attack and adding depth to bass lines. The original Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings round off the package, offering a setup ready to integrate into your rig.
