Supro - Amulet 112 Black Scandia

The Supro Amulet 1x12 immediately raises the question of power — and answers it in three ways. At 1 watt, the 6L6 tube enters saturation at living-room volume; at 5 watts, the tone opens up and the dynamics expand; at 15 watts, the amp unfurls its full spectrum across the soundstage. This power selector isn’t just a convenience feature — it’s a tone control in its own right, as a 6L6 pushed to its limits at low wattage sounds quite different from a 6L6 running at a quarter of its capacity.
The 12-inch Celestion G12M-65 Creamback forms the acoustic centre of gravity of the combo. This British soft-suspension speaker reproduces the mid-range with a rich, full-bodied density and rolls off gently into the treble, without the harshness of ceramic magnets. The three 12AX7 tubes and the 12AT7 in the preamp create a multi-layered gain stage, which the Black Scandia Tolex and its gold-thread grille give a deliberately retro look. The poplar cabinet focuses the low frequencies without muddying them, and the Dog Bone vinyl handle signals its roots in an American school of craftsmanship that has not changed its methods since the 1950s.
The Volume, Treble and Bass controls are deliberately kept to a minimum — three sliders are enough when the speaker is doing its job. The tremolo, with its Speed and Depth controls, sculpts precise oscillations, whilst the built-in reverb adds space without masking the attack. The two 8-ohm speaker outputs allow for an external cabinet, and the dual TRS footswitch socket accommodates the separately sold SF2 Supro to control the tremolo and reverb from the floor.
