Yamaha's TRB JP2 Translucent Dark Red is a signature 6-string electric bass, designed in collaboration with John Patitucci, featuring a maple, ash and alder body, long screw neck and ebony fingerboard for smooth playability and extended resonance. It features two custom Alnico V humbucking pickups and 3-band active electronics designed by Patitucci, providing a wide tonal palette with deep lows and chiseled highs and precise control via EQ and dedicated switches. Made in Japan with a solid brass bridge and premium components, it offers tuning stability, high sustain and balance, meeting the demands of a pro instrument both on stage and in the studio.

Designed in collaboration with John Patitucci, Yamaha's TRB JP2 is a 6-string bass designed to meet the needs of modern, versatile and expressive players. Behind its Translucent Dark Red finish and high-gloss varnish lies a body crafted from a blend of carefully selected woods: carved maple, ash, alder and maple. This choice of construction contributes to a balanced response across the entire frequency range.

The screw-down maple neck is fitted with an ebony fingerboard and 26 frets, with a long 889 mm scale for excellent bass response. There are two custom Alnico V pickups (neck and bridge), combined with 3-band active electronics, a balance control and a master volume control for fine-tuning each nuance to suit the style being played.

The solid brass bridge and Gotoh GB72 tuning machines ensure stable tuning and controlled sustain. Made in Japan and supplied in a case, this TRB JP2 is aimed at bassists looking for a complete instrument that's as at home in the studio as it is on stage.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1959, John Patitucci began playing electric bass at the age of ten, quickly developing an eclectic taste in music, ranging from soul to jazz and classical. He settled in Los Angeles in 1980, becoming a much sought-after studio musician and collaborating with renowned artists such as Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter. Over the course of his career, he has received several Grammy Awards and nominations, notably for his solo work and with the Chick Corea Elektric Band and Akoustic Band.
