Black Lion Audio's B12A MKIII takes the main lines of the legendary 312A preamplifier in an ultra transportable half-rack format, without compromising on quality. This single-channel model offers high gain, fast response and the harmonic coloration typical of the great American classics. It's aimed at sound engineers looking to capture detail and dynamics with character, while retaining a compact size for mobile set-ups or tight spaces.

Equipped with the same Cinemag input and output transformers as the B12A Quad, this preamp delivers up to 70dB of gain, making it ideally suited to low output microphones such as ribbons. The front-panel DI input lets you plug in guitars, synthesizers or basses directly, giving them a nice dose of warmth and grain thanks to the transformed output stage.

The notched gain control ensures easy recall, while the variable output level control allows precise adjustment of transformer saturation. The essential functions are also present: +48 V phantom power, phase inversion and an -18 dB attenuation pad. The whole unit is housed in a sturdy, neat case, ready to take its place on your desk or in a rack thanks to its removable ears.
