With the Boss XS-1 Poly Shifter, you can explore a whole world of tones in the blink of an eye. Its pitch range covers 3 octaves up and 3 down, allowing you to go from massive drop tuning to a slight shift to thicken your sound. The Balance pot perfectly adjusts the mix between your natural sound and the effect, to keep that instrumental warmth even when you're playing with radical changes.
The XS-1's Switch Shift offers a range of modes, from octave up/down to a doubler effect to enrich your sound texture. Controllable with an expression pedal, it transforms your pitch variations into fluid, lively glissandos, perfect for expressive solos or atmospheric passages.

Je retire 1 étoile car à ce prix j'aurais apprécié la sortie stéréo (dry / wet) proposée sur le XS100. Il manque également le S-Bend de la BOSS PS6 si on veut vraiment tirer parti du mode "momentary". En l'absence de S-Bend, je ne vois aucune utilisation pertinente de ce mode. Cela dit, cette BOSS XS1 est un excellent pitch shifter. Je l'utilise 90% du temps en drop –2 sur une guitare accordée en drop C# (qui passe donc en drop B). Il y a une légère perte de brillance et une modification du timbre de la guitare, un effet "K7 qui tourne au ralenti", mais j'ai adapté mon son à cela. Le mode Detune, bien que mono, est parfaitement utilisable. En drop –1oct avec une Telecaster en position intermédiaire, je peux enregistrer rapidement des lignes de basse crédibles. Enfin, je l'utilise également en pitch +7 avec très peu de wet. Ça rajoute une présence très musicale (comme les refrains de Stranded de Gojira). Le tracking est excellent. La latence est faible mais perceptible et augmente avec l'écart de pitch choisi. Sur ces 2 points, la BOSS XS-1 a mis ma EH Pitch Fork à la retraite ! Je suis très très content de mon achat. Pour bénéficier de la programmation et de la sortie stéréo, j'envisage à terme de prendre la XS-100.
