This DPA directional headband microphone is designed for vocal recording where the voice must remain intelligible amidst numerous sound sources, with a design intended to maintain a natural and stable sound in complex acoustic environments.

The supercardioid polar pattern enhances vocal isolation and contributes to a high feedback-safe gain, with controlled off-axis rejection to minimise the influence of speakers, the audience, crosstalk and acoustic reflections on the recording, whilst providing greater separation between the voice and neighbouring sound sources.

The CORE+ capsule maintains a frequency response of 100 Hz to 18 kHz, with a slight 1 dB boost at 14 kHz to support speech clarity and preserve tonal balance, even when the source varies, with a response designed to remain consistent.

The off-axis design enables effective pickup when the capsule is positioned slightly to the side of the mouth, reducing sensitivity to positioning variations and promoting more consistent reproduction from one setup to the next, without requiring millimetre-precise positioning each time, making it easier to use consistently when changing position.

The Act frame builds on the design of previous generations whilst improving stability and comfort, thanks to rounded ear contours, more secure clips and a cable route that runs downwards at the junction with the ear hook; IP58 certification enhances resistance to moisture and dust, the serviceable design facilitates maintenance, and the non-reflective PVD finish remains discreet under stage lighting. This design also facilitates consistent fitting when multiple adjustments are required during a single performance, whilst the redesigned case makes storage easier.
