The 6388 CORE+ is a directional headband microphone designed to ensure speech intelligibility in situations where ambient sound sources may complicate the recording process. Its supercardioid polar pattern helps to isolate the voice more effectively and helps to minimise the risk of feedback from the sound system.

Its capsule maintains consistent performance across a wide part of the spectrum, with a useful frequency range of 100 Hz to 18 kHz and a slight boost of 1 dB at 14 kHz. This response helps to maintain a natural reproduction of the voice, with a tonal balance that remains consistent even when the microphone’s position varies slightly.

The acoustic design of the 6388 CORE+ reduces the need for extremely precise capsule positioning, thanks to an off-centre acoustic axis and a partially asymmetrical design. The maximum sensitivity can thus remain directed towards the mouth even when the boom arm is positioned slightly to the side, promoting consistent pickup and controlled off-axis rejection. This is a small victory over the capricious millimetre.

The Act headband improves the fit between the microphone and the wearer thanks to redesigned ear contours, rounded ear tips and reinforced clips that hold the settings in place. The cable runs down to the junction with the boom arm to minimise mechanical stress, whilst PVD coatings visually reduce the boom arm’s diameter and harmonise the finish with the beige colour scheme. The design thus retains a discreet appearance without sacrificing the robustness required for everyday use.

The design of the 6388 CORE+ also incorporates features designed for durability and maintainability, with IP58 certification against moisture and dust, as well as a repairable construction intended to extend its service life. Its new zipped case also makes storage easier, thanks to a transparent window that allows you to quickly identify the connectors, the type of capsule and the colour. An elastic strap helps to secure the microphone in place, whilst a pocket protects the identification label, ensuring that storage remains as organised as the rest.
