The EMG FB Set Red pickup set is pure character from Frank Bello. Two powerful active pickups: the PCSX on the bridge, armed with ceramic and steel for ultra-precise bass, and the LJAX on the neck, warmer, with just the right amount of Alnico growl.
Under the bonnet, the X series preamp doesn't sleep. It pushes the dynamics without compressing the playing, while retaining a nice responsiveness. At 9 volts, it slams. At 18 volts, it explodes. And if you like to tinker, you'll find plenty to play with with the pots, cables and solderless EMG system.
It's all housed in an eye-catching red casing. The style is assertive, as is the clarity of the sound. Funk, metal or a bit of dirty punk: it never says no.
Got a toggle switch? Perfect. Got a SwitchCraft jack handy? Even better. This set likes its bass loud. And it does it very well.

Frank Bello, born in 1965 in the Bronx, is the iconic bassist for Anthrax, the Big Four of thrash metal. Before music, he dreamed of being an actor and appeared briefly in Law & Order. In 1996, he left Anthrax to join Helmet, before returning in 1999. Very close to his uncle Charlie Benante, he dedicated his autobiography to his brother Anthony, who was murdered in 1996 - a tragedy that deeply affected him.
