Glenn Tipton is the legendary guitarist of Judas Priest, the pioneering heavy metal band. Born in Birmingham in 1947, he joined the band in 1974, just before the release of Rocka Rolla. His playing combines melodic virtuosity, sharp riffs and fluid solos, often in duet with K.K. Downing. Tipton has co-written such classics as Painkiller, Electric Eye and Breaking the Law. In 2018, he announced that he was suffering from Parkinson's disease, but remained active in the studio and on stage from time to time. He is also an early user of EMG, renowned for its sharp, articulate sound.
