The EMG HBCS pickup is a hybrid version that merges the humbucker format with the typical sound of a P-Style pickup. Designed to be installed in the neck position on a bass, it provides a warmer, more bass-heavy tone than the classic HB pickup. Thanks to its ceramic and steel magnets, it delivers a precise sound, with good depth without being too aggressive. This pickup is particularly suited to bassists looking for a vintage sound, but with the clarity and power of an active pickup.
The HBCS is perfect for a variety of styles such as funk, jazz and rock, where roundness and definition are important. Its tonal balance allows each note in a mix to stand out, while retaining body and presence. Compared with other pickups, it gives a sound that's both warm and clear, without the annoying hiss you sometimes hear with passive pickups.
It is particularly suited to basses with string spacing of less than 2", making it ideal for compact or modern instruments.
