The EMG P85 is designed for those who want the warmth of an active humbucker, but in a P90 format. Based on the same internal design as the EMG 85, this pickup retains the dynamics and richness of sound for which the brand is renowned. The Alnico V magnets provide a round, articulate grain, ideal for singing lead sounds or breathing chords. Thanks to its active system, the P85 eliminates unwanted noise and guarantees faithful reproduction of playing, even at high volume.
This pickup excels at both clean sound and saturation. In blues, it responds well to the nuances of finger picking; in rock and metal, it retains its clarity, even under the thickest distortion. It's often used in the neck position, but remains surprisingly effective in the bridge, with a fluid, expressive sound.
The real advantage of the P85 is that it allows you to modernise a guitar with a vintage look, without affecting its aesthetics. And thanks to EMG's solderless wiring, assembly is quick and easy.
