The EMG VG20 Vince Gill is a fully pre-wired pickguard designed for guitarists looking for a simple configuration to install on stage or in the studio. This model is based on the configuration used by Vince Gill on his black Stratocaster since 1996.

The 11-hole Stratocaster-shaped pickguard is fitted with three single-coil EMG-S pickups, active with ceramic magnets. This combination produces a clear, well-defined sound with good dynamics and output. It's ideal for a wide range of musical styles, from rock to country and blues.

The electronics include a master volume, a passive tone for treble control, and the SPC (Strat Presence Control) circuit, a midrange boost that gives the sound more body and presence, similar to that of a double coil. It's very useful when you want to switch from the clear sound of a typical Strat to a thicker sound for solos or harder riffs, without having to change guitar or amp. The 5-position selector allows you to use different pickup combinations.

The system is easy to install, with no need for soldering. It runs on a single 9V battery in a dedicated compartment.

Installation is quick: just a few screws to remove, and you can enjoy a complete set!

Vince Gill, born in 1957, is a key figure in American country music, renowned for his subtle guitar playing and warm voice. He joined the scene in the 1980s and quickly established himself as a complete artist, equally at home as a solo artist and as a member of The Eagles.

In 1996, in search of a more precise and balanced sound, Gill adopted the EMG VG20 system on his black Stratocaster. This pre-wired pickguard, fitted with EMG-S active pickups and SPC circuitry, became a central element of his setup. It allows him to move from a clear, bright sound to a more sustained mid-range, perfect for his bluesy solos or country ballads.

He uses this pickguard both live and in the studio, notably on major albums such as The Key. Over time, this system has become a central element of his setup, and has remained so throughout his career. Vince Gill, winner of 22 Grammy Awards, has continued to play for decades with this configuration, which has never failed him.
