The EMG TBHZ is ideal for bassists who play in low tunings and want to keep their sound clear and precise in the lower registers.
This dual-coil passive pickup, designed for Thunderbird-type basses, uses steel and ceramic magnets to produce a dense sound with a slightly compressed low-midrange, without muffling the attack.
It works well with tunings in D or C, whether for extreme metal, doom or sludge. The notes remain legible even on slow, busy riffs.
In bridge position, it adds bite without becoming too aggressive. In neck position, it adds roundness while retaining good definition. It responds well to straightforward pick attacks as well as softer fingerpicking lines.
The solderless system makes it easy to install, even for musicians who don't want to take out the soldering iron. Medium to high output level, enough to saturate an amp or overdrive.
