Equalizer

The EQ-73 PREMIER is an analogue equaliser inspired by the legendary Neve 1073, designed around a discrete Class A circuit with Carnhill inductors. It delivers a warm, musical and accurate sound, just as relevant in the recording as in the mix.

ARTICLE N° 115893
The Golden Age Audio EQ-73 PREMIER takes the sound architecture of the legendary 1073 module seriously and faithfully, concentrating exclusively on the EQ, with no high-pass filter, in order to preserve the essence of this legendary circuit. The choice of a Class A design, with no integrated circuits in the main signal path, reflects a clear desire to preserve a rich, natural and lively analogue response, particularly appreciated on vocals, guitars, drums and busses.

The equalisation section is based on three bands, with shelving-type bass and treble and a bell-shaped midrange band. The latter is distinguished by the use of two Carnhill UK inductors, including a specific value dedicated to the low-mid frequencies of 160 Hz and 240 Hz, guaranteeing a smooth, coherent response in a crucial area of the spectrum. All the frequencies are staggered, making it easy to make precise adjustments, recall positions and work in a professional context.

The sonic character of the EQ-73 PREMIER translates into full, solid bass, fleshy, legible midrange and open, non-aggressive treble. The correction range is ±15dB for bass and midrange, and ±18dB for treble, offering great latitude without ever making the equalisation sound artificial. Each band has its own independent bypass, a real advantage in mix or rapid comparison situations.

Designed for flexible integration, the EQ-73 PREMIER can operate standalone or be connected to the insert of a compatible Golden Age preamplifier. Combined with a PRE-73 and mounted in a UNITE rack, it becomes a true 1073-style slice in 19-inch format. The external power supply limits any interference with the audio stages, while the quality of assembly and choice of components ensure the stability and longevity required for intensive use in professional studios.
