Golden Age Audio - GA-8000

The Golden Age Audio GA-8000 is a high-quality tube microphone designed to deliver exceptional sound reproduction to audio professionals. Equipped with an active solid-state cooling system, it maintains an optimal tube temperature, reducing background noise and improving the signal-to-noise ratio.

The GA-8000 incorporates a gold-plated ROGERS ceramic circuit board, renowned for its superior insulation properties and increased stability. High-quality coupling and decoupling capacitors ensure accurate reproduction of low frequencies and delicate, transparent reproduction of high frequencies.

The large-diaphragm capsule, manufactured by an expert with over twenty years of experience, is capable of handling high sound pressure levels, offering a sensitivity of -33 dB/Pa.

The microphone uses a NOS CIFTE 6AU6 tube of French origin, operating at an anode voltage of 90V. This configuration generates more heat than traditional designs, making the active cooling system essential for efficient heat dissipation.

The GA-8000 also features a modern power supply with solid-state rectifiers and a FET stabilizer for the high-voltage rail, eliminating the need to replace tubes in the power supply.

Internal components, such as metal resistors and electrolytic capacitors from Japan, Siemens EPCOS coupling capacitors from Germany, oxygen-free copper connecting wires from Japan, and FELDER solder containing silver and copper from Germany, demonstrate the commitment to sound quality and durability.

The microphone comes with a Rycote USM-VB shock mount, ensuring optimum isolation from unwanted vibrations. With electronically selectable polar patterns (omnidirectional and cardioid), a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz and the ability to handle SPLs up to 137 dB (cardioid) and 140 dB (omnidirectional), the GA-8000 is a true "Swiss Army knife".
