Poplar, often underestimated, delivers a focused, neutral tone that doesn’t colour the signal — something the ceramic pickups already do very well on their own. Roasting hardens the wood’s grain, reduces moisture absorption and enhances the transmission of vibrations to the pickups. It’s a choice that makes perfect sense from start to finish. The Modern C-profile neck, crafted from roasted Canadian maple with a nut width of 48 mm, provides ample space for the fingers across seven strings without requiring an athletic grip — the 241.3 mm (9.5″) maintains a gentle curve that suits both chords and melodic lines high up on the neck. The 24 rosewood frets extend the high register far beyond the usual territory of distorted rhythm playing.
The dual-action truss rod allows for precise adjustment in both directions — essential on a scale length of 673.1 mm (26.5″) where string tension is high and seasonal variations are noticeable. The black tuning machines and the bone/polymer fibre nut lock in the tuning upstream, whilst the fixed bridge does the rest downstream.
