The Jet Guitars JS-450 OBL Ocean Blue in this configuration emphasises light rather than contrast. Whereas the version with black hardware is sharp and harsh, the white mother-of-pearl pickguard against an Ocean Blue background creates a reflective surface that changes with the lighting, giving the instrument a stage presence of a completely different nature. The chrome self-locking tuners follow this same theme of clarity — a soft sheen, visual consistency from the headstock to the bridge.
Beneath this crafted surface, the instrument’s construction remains true to the JS-450 range: a flamed maple top over a roasted poplar body, a combination that defines the attack without weighing down the bass. The torrefied poplar provides that measured density that keeps the sound under control in the right hand, whilst the flamed maple above refines the texture of the attack — two woods, two roles, a single guitar that never falters.
The neck and fingerboard, crafted from torrefied Canadian maple, follow in the footsteps of the first OBL: a single piece of wood from the nut to the top frets, with a smooth feel under the fingers and crisp, defined mids. The Modern C profile and 9.5" radius provide ergonomics that you won’t question after ten minutes of playing. The 22 frets, 1.65" (41.9 mm) nut width and bone nut — polymer fibre depending on the model year — complete an instrument that knows exactly what it’s worth. The 1 volume / 1 tone controls and the 5-way switch keep the signal clean. Nothing superfluous, nothing missing.
