Sire Marcus Miller P7 4 Strings Dark Navy At the heart of the Sire Marcus Miller P7 4-string Dark Navy, the Marcus Super-PJ Revolution Set - signature low-end humbucker and single coil bite - redefines the PJ configuration at Sire. Heritage-3 three-band preamp, active/passive rocker, alder body, Edgeless™ maple fingerboard: a bass with two faces, with no stage compromises.

Sire's Marcus Miller P7 4-string Dark Navy breaks new ground as the company's first PJ bass. The Marcus Miller Modern-S bridge anchors the four DR Dragon Skin + DBQ-45 strings on a North American alder body whose natural density amplifies the fundamentals with a straightforward acoustic weight, without artificial colouring. The four-screw square steel plate neck binding ensures direct vibratory transfer between the wood and the strings, the key to a clear-cut dynamic response.

The left hand finds a surface on the satin-finished C-profile hard maple neck that retains neither perspiration nor playability - crisp, degree-by-degree contact across the 20 2.4mm medium frets. The Edgeless™ maple fingerboard extends this gesture: its rolled edges eliminate edges at the end of the neck, and its 241.3 mm radius keeps the string as close to the wood as possible across the entire width. The 38 mm bone nut locks the tuning in the headstock, relayed by the chrome-plated Premium Open-Gear tuning machines.

It's the Marcus Super-PJ Revolution Set that distributes the sonic roles: the signature humbucker deepens the bass with the characteristic fullness of precision bass, while the single coil cuts through the midrange with the articulate clarity of Jazz Bass. The Heritage-3 preamplifier arbitrates between these two voices via its three-band equalisation - bass, selectable-frequency midrange, treble - while the active/passive mini-switch bypasses the electronics when the raw signal is enough. The block white pearloid markings, single-ply ivory binding and mint green cover plate give the instrument a visual identity as recognisable as its sound.

Marcus Miller had a profound impact on Miles Davis' career during the trumpeter's last creative period. He composed and produced a large part of the album "Tutu", released in 1986, considered to be a major work of modern jazz mixed with the electronic sounds of the 1980s. Marcus Miller played almost every instrument on the album, demonstrating impressive arranging and production skills. Miles Davis admired his understanding of groove and his ability to modernise jazz without losing its essence. This collaboration propelled Marcus Miller onto the international scene and confirmed his status as a complete musician, going beyond the simple role of virtuoso bassist.
