In the 1970s, Marcus Miller joined flautist Bobbi Humphrey's band at a very young age. This early professional experience really launched his career. He quickly became one of New York's leading studio bassists. He took part in recordings for pop, funk and jazz artists, demonstrating great musical adaptability. His precise playing and natural groove appealed to many producers. Marcus Miller also developed a reputation as an extremely reliable touring musician. This period of intensive work has helped shape his unique style, blending harmonic sophistication with rhythmic efficiency in almost any musical context.
