Martinez - Standard MC-58C RN

With the MC-58C RN, Martinez has created a classical guitar where the wood takes precedence over the fittings. The solid cedar top produces a warm, rounded tone – a sound more reminiscent of a workshop than a factory. The bass notes have body, the treble sings without being harsh, and the cedar gives each chord an almost living quality.

Beneath this top, a Spanish fan bracing system structures the vibration and distributes the sound’s energy to both the bass and treble registers. The Indian rosewood back and sides provide the density that gives the sound its structure, edged with a maple and ebony binding that traces a crisp outline around the body. The Spanish-style neck joint, a tradition passed down from Iberian luthiers, unites the body and neck into a single piece of wood, ensuring long-term stability.

The mahogany neck moulds comfortably to the hand without causing fatigue, extending into a rosewood fingerboard where twenty frets mark the path of the scales. A truss rod adjustable in both directions keeps the neck straight, season after season. Mother-of-pearl inlays at the 5th, 7th and 9th frets guide the eye without distracting the ear. The 52 mm wide bone nut gives the strings plenty of room to vibrate freely.

The high-gloss polyurethane finish, in a natural colour, protects the top without obscuring its aged grain. The gold-plated 48/58 Martinez tuning machines complete the headstock with hardware in the same tone, from the Indian rosewood bridge right through to the factory-fitted Martinez strings. A built-in Fishman preamp opens the door to the stage without the need for an external microphone, and the guitar comes with its Martinez gig bag, ready to go from the living room to the rehearsal room.
