Martinez - Standard MC-20S CE RN

It all starts with the wood, but the choice goes beyond just its name. The spruce top gives the playing a clear attack, with trebles that rise quickly and retain their clarity. The mahogany back and sides add warmth, with rounded mid-range tones that give the notes body. At Martinez, the wood is left to rest for several years before being selected. This time shapes its character just as much as the luthier’s craftsmanship.

The 25.59" (650 mm) scale length matches the fret spacing of a concert classical guitar, and the 19 frets sit high on the neck. The 52 mm (2.05") nut widens the space between the strings, allowing enough room to place your fingers for an arpeggio without them getting in the way. The piezo pickup transmits the attack to the amplifier without making it sound harsh.

From its beginnings in Germany in 1978 to its establishment in Guangzhou in 2005, Martinez has enriched its Standard series with various luthier traditions, drawing on the expertise of American luthier Kenny Hill and the underlying Spanish heritage. The Martinez Standard MC-20S CE RN, model number MAR261, is therefore equally suited to lessons and live performances.
