To further expand the capabilities of your system, you can connect multiple MOTU FireWire audio interfaces additional, or Motu 8pre if you need lots of microphone inputs. The Motu 896mk3 is equally suited to studio and stage, with or without a computer. Used as an audio interface or stand-alone digital mixer, the 896mk3 Motu offers 28 inputs and 32 separate outputs - including XLR main outputs and two front panel headphone outputs. Once you have set the mix parameters in the integrated digital mixer, you can disconnect the Motu 896mk3 from the computer and take it wherever you want; it then serves as a standalone digital console, with effects.
All mixing and effects parameters are set via the backlit LCD on the front panel. The Motu 896mk3 supports Mac OS and Windows: it can be used with all common audio software, thanks to its drivers WDM / ASIO / Core Audio. You can also use the Motu AudioDesk audio workstation software included (Mac OS X only), which allows recording and editing in 24 bit and works internally (mixing / processing / mastering) 32-bit floating point .
