Presentation
The Motu M4 interface impresses with its robust metal construction and meticulous finish. Thanks to its ESS Sabre32 Ultra converters, it delivers a remarkably clear signal, even at 32 bit / 192 kHz. For added flexibility, its 2 XLR/Jack TRS combo inputs accept guitar, mic or line signals.
Each channel has its own dedicated gain and 48 V phantom power. What's more, the colour LCD screen offers precise visual control of input and output levels.
On the monitoring side, the mix knob lets you easily balance direct signal and computer feedback. Its balanced TRS outputs deliver a dynamic range of 120dB. RCA outputs mirror the same signal for maximum compatibility with different systems.
In addition, the headphone output has its own volume control. The EIN of -129dB on the preamps ensures extremely low background noise. The integrated MIDI port makes it easy to connect to external keyboards and controllers. Finally, Performer Lite and Ableton Live Lite software are included so you can start recording straight away.
As for the microphone, the Shure SM7dB ensures warm, faithful vocal reproduction. Thanks to its built-in preamp, it's equally at home with modest interfaces or high-end set-ups.
