The KK 104 A Black handheld transmitter capsule, designed by Neumann, brings the studio approach to a wireless system designed for live performances and vocals. Its cardioid polar pattern ensures stable pickup, with clear reproduction and effective feedback control in set-ups where multiple sound sources coexist on a busy, dynamic and lively stage, whilst maintaining true precision. The robust construction, plosive protection and reduced handling noise round out the package, resulting in a capsule that retains its technical integrity even during frequent changes of position.
Presentation
This condenser capsule can handle sound pressure levels in excess of 150 dB SPL, whilst maintaining a fast transient response and detailed reproduction, with an open high-frequency response that preserves the precision of vocal attacks and allows greater scope for the natural dynamics of the voice on stage, live, even during highly expressive and strongly modulated passages.
When used for close-mic recording, a fixed low-cut filter compensates for the proximity effect and maintains clear bass response when the mouth is very close to the grille, which is made of hardened steel and features an internal pop filter designed to minimise plosives, control sibilance and protect the capsule from moisture.
This acoustic design also promotes consistent sound reproduction when the singer varies their distance from or orientation towards the capsule, without requiring any adjustment at the mixing desk, even during a mobile performance.
The narrow cardioid polar pattern ensures stable pickup around the main axis and marked rejection of sounds coming from directly behind at 180°, which provides a good margin before feedback in set-ups where monitor speakers, the main stage and other sound sources share the same acoustic space.
