Designed for Sennheiser wireless systems, the KK 105 A capsule brings the qualities of Neumann studio microphones to the stage with precise vocal reproduction and a highly controlled supercardioid polar pattern, ensuring the voice remains in the foreground without turning every performance into an acoustic battle. Its design combines a studio-quality condenser capsule, a construction designed to withstand high sound pressure levels and effective protection against plosives and moisture, with extensive compatibility with the Spectera, EW-D, EW-DX, Digital 6000 and Digital 9000 systems.
Presentation
Its narrow supercardioid polar pattern improves separation from neighbouring sound sources and strongly rejects sound from the rear, particularly at around 135°, which ensures the voice remains prominent on a busy stage, whilst a consistent off-axis response minimises variations in tone.
This condenser capsule utilises the technology developed for the KMS series, with a fast transient response and a more open high-frequency reproduction than many dynamic microphones, resulting in immediate articulation and intelligibility that requires fewer EQ adjustments.
The fixed low-cut filter compensates for the proximity effect associated with close-mic recording, ensuring that low frequencies remain clear when the capsule is used close to the lips, whilst the hardened steel grille, with its internal pop filter, helps protect against plosives and moisture.
An internal suspension system minimises handling noise, and the capsule maintains its performance even at very high sound pressure levels without clipping, giving it a headroom suitable for powerful vocals and live performance set-ups where sound levels leave little room for error.
