Novastar - CVT10 Pro-M

The NovaStar CVT10 Pro-M is a fibre-optic converter designed to simplify data transmission in medium- and large-scale LED display installations. It works by routing multiple network streams through a fibre-optic link, thereby reducing the number of copper cables required between the processor and the display area. In a typical setup, the converter is positioned close to the screens and redistributes the data received via its Gigabit Ethernet ports.

The Pro-M version uses multimode transmission and can reach distances of up to 300 metres using OM3 or OM4 dual-core multimode fibre. Two 10G optical ports are available, with a primary/standby configuration providing a second link if required. The optical modules are factory-fitted and can be hot-swapped, making maintenance easier without having to modify the entire installation.

The CVT10 Pro-M can be used in both directions. It can receive data via fibre and convert it to the ten Ethernet ports, but it can also aggregate data from the network ports to transmit it over a fibre link. This versatility allows it to be paired with various NovaStar processors and used both in an architecture that already has an optical output and in a configuration requiring a pair of converters to create the fibre link.

Its 2U 19-inch rack-mount form factor facilitates its integration into a control room, a technical rack or a transport system. The IP65 rating also allows for temporary outdoor use provided the connector covers are properly secured and the fibre ports are connected. The PowerCON TRUE1 and etherCON connections reinforce this focus on temporary installations and environments where the reliability of the links is just as important as their ease of deployment.
