Presentation
The sE Electronics BL8 takes a different approach to capturing powerful sources, combining a surface microphone design with a condenser capsule from the sE8. This combination provides fast, accurate reproduction, while retaining excellent low-frequency management.
Its half-cardioid pick-up pattern is particularly well suited to close miking on flat surfaces. Placed in a bass drum or on a stage, the BL8 exploits the surface effect to limit phase interference and improve the coherence of the signal picked up. This configuration produces clean, defined bass without the need for complex placement.
The hand-made condenser capsule ensures good transient response and detailed reproduction across the entire spectrum. Unlike some dynamic solutions, the BL8 retains a certain finesse in the high frequencies, which can be useful for capturing attacks or more subtle nuances.
The microphone incorporates several tools to adapt to different situations. The switchable low-cut filter can be used to control unwanted low frequencies, while the attenuation pads can be used on very loud sources. The character selector offers two distinct sound signatures, allowing you to choose between a more classic or more modern sound.
Its metal design and compact size make it easy to integrate into fixed or mobile configurations. It is also compatible with certain specific mounting systems, extending its installation possibilities, particularly on tour.
