The Supro Ambassador Custom is designed for guitarists who refuse to choose between two sonic worlds. The Class A / Class AB switch changes everything at the flick of a switch: Class A for natural compression and a warm tone, Class AB for greater sustain and headroom on stage. The switchable 35 W / 50 W power output follows this same dual-purpose philosophy, from the quiet home studio to the concert hall where volume is essential.
The two Celestion-built Supro BD10 speakers form the acoustic heart of the 2x10 configuration, a layout that widens the sound dispersion and adds body to the midrange. Three 12AX7 tubes and one 12AT7 form the preamp, whilst two 5881/6L6WGC power tubes, selected as EHX-matched pairs, add bite to the treble and roundness to the bass. The built-in spring reverb adds the spatial depth that enhances everything from a bluesy solo to a distorted riff.
Under the hood, Mercury Magnetics transformers and Mallory capacitors reflect a choice of components that prioritises long-term signal stability. The six controls – Volume, Treble, Mid, Bass, Reverb and Master – offer direct control without unnecessary complexity, and the integrated master volume allows you to drive the valves into saturation even at low volumes.
The US craftsmanship is evident in every visual detail: a poplar cabinet, a Dogbone handle, Burgundy Scandia Tolex, gold accents, cream piping, a hemp grille and a black Supro logo. In terms of connectivity, the single instrument input is combined with multiple speaker outputs (16 ohms, 8 ohms, 4 ohms) and a single TS footswitch jack, ensuring broad compatibility with external cabinets. A single footswitch is included with the amp, completing a unit measuring 600 × 445 × 255 mm and weighing 21.5 kg.
