Presentation
Based on research into the Taishōgoto, UVI’s Nagoya Harp (virtual instrument) offers a comprehensively sampled collection featuring over 20,000 samples. The downloadable licence combines two instruments, Strum and Keys, allowing you to explore both traditional playing styles and more expansive interpretations.
Strum reproduces strumming techniques with dedicated controls, whilst Keys adds several techniques such as palm muting, drumsticks, a bow and various una corda configurations. The performance scripts replicate strumming patterns and harmonic interactions, with articulations recorded using a pick, bow, drumsticks, and hammer-ons and pull-offs.
On the creative side, the built-in effects include convolution, drive, equaliser, chorus, phaser, delay and algorithmic reverb. Presets make exploration easy, whilst the interface allows you to create your own sounds. With sounds ranging from melodic progressions to harmonic drones, Nagoya Harp offers a palette suited to traditional, contemporary and experimental approaches.
