The Akai MPK Mini mkIII Grey isn't afraid of pocket studios. Weighing in at just 750 grams, with 25 mini-touches and a design made for cramped spaces, it slips between your laptop and your coffee mug without protest. But be warned: underneath this almost innocent format lies a real beast of control. There are 8 MPC-style backlit pads, endless encoders, an OLED screen that displays what it's thinking, and a joystick for the more restless of you. It's all USB-powered, so there's no need to search for a plug at the bottom of a bag. And with NKS compatibility, your Native Instruments can talk to it without a translator.
On the software side, Native Instruments' Komplete 15 Standard Upgrade doesn't cut any corners. Over 95 instruments and effects, 50,000 sounds, and even enough to remix your wildest dreams with tools like Kontakt 8, Guitar Rig 7 Pro and iZotope Ozone 11 Standard. If you already own Komplete Select, this upgrade unlocks a colossal arsenal of sounds, from vintage drums to futuristic synths. The icing on the cake is that installation via Native Access is straightforward, and once you've received your codes (by email, rest assured), everything happens online... and then offline if you want.
