D'Angelico - Excel DC Tour Solid Black
D'Angelico Excel DC Tour Solid Black The D'Angelico Excel DC Tour Solid Black derives its tone from a pair of Supro Bolt Bucker pickups — an Alnico II at the neck for a rounded warmth, and an Alnico V at the bridge for a biting attack — housed in a semi-hollow body with a laminated maple centre block that suppresses feedback without stifling the guitar’s natural projection.
Presentation
The three-piece C-profile neck, glued to the body, extends to an ebony fingerboard with a radius of 304.8 mm — a generous radius that flattens the strings under the fingers in the higher positions. The 635 mm scale length provides tension for the original D’Addario EXP110 strings without making the touch too stiff. The 22 Medium Jumbo Blacksmith DHP-27H frets cover the solo range without requiring excessive pressure. The 42.86 mm Graphtech NuBone XL nut stabilises the tuning at the string end, where temperature fluctuations usually cause problems. The dual-action truss rod adjusts the neck’s curvature in both directions.
The satin-nickel Grover Vintage Deluxe tuners with cream knobs maintain tuning under tension. The high-gloss Throwback Scroll-Style headstock features the acrylic New York logo and the Excel Shield logo, with 5-ply binding and the ebony Skyscraper truss rod cover. The body also features 5-ply binding and acrylic Small Diamonds inlays on the 3-ply bound fingerboard. The satin nickel Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece anchor the strings with a classic angle geometry. Made in Korea. Supplied with a gig bag.

D'Angelico is a New York brand of electric guitars that has existed since 1938. First went unnoticed because the guitars were manufactured only by hand in a very small workshop by two luthiers; it is in 2011, at a show at the New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, that D'Angelico is noticed. Since then, D'Angelico guitars have been a real success thanks to their quality of manufacture and their price.
