If you are already a DPA 4011 user, you will love the 4015C, which features a wider cardioid pickup pattern. This particular pickup pattern, also known as a hemispherical pickup pattern, covers a wider sound angle, and every off-axis pickup is reproduced faithfully.
Sometimes, a conventional cardioid pattern is not open enough. Recording orchestras or other ensembles sometimes requires a compromise between room reverberation and more precise localization. When recording instruments with complex sound radiation, the wide cardioid design (also known as hemispherical) covers a wider sound angle and is an excellent choice.
It is often the ideal mic for recording grand piano, guitar, marimba and percussion, or as a mic for groups in a symphony orchestra. Similarly, it is an excellent vocal or dubbing microphone, due to its increased richness.
The 4015C wide cardioid microphone is part of the DPA d:dicate series. It combines the MMC4015 capsule with the MMP-C preamplifier. At any time, it is possible to modify the 4015 C into a new configuration, by attaching another capsule, or another preamplifier, from the d:dicate series.
The DPA d:dicate 4015C omnidirectional microphone is also available as a matched stereo pair ST4015C.
