The DPA 6388 CORE+ headband microphone is designed for situations where the voice must remain clearly distinguishable in a noisy environment, with a supercardioid polar pattern that minimises side and rear pick-up in amplified sound systems. This polar pattern enhances the separation between speech and competing sound sources, whilst supporting a high pre-feedback gain for set-ups where acoustic control is a key challenge for sound reinforcement.

Its CORE+ capsule operates over a useful frequency range of 100 Hz to 18 kHz, with a slight boost at 14 kHz to ensure precise and balanced vocal reproduction. The acoustic design is optimised for placement close to the corners of the mouth, with increased tolerance to minor positioning variations, which helps maintain a consistent response when placement varies depending on the speaker and the setup.

The Act body incorporates the design of the 4066 and 4088 models, with several improvements focused on comfort, stability and visual discretion in everyday use, ensuring a secure fit during long speaking sessions. The behind-the-ear earpieces feature rounded shapes, the clips provide greater stability during adjustment, and the headband has a PVD coating to match the housing, with a cable routed downwards for a discreet appearance and better protection of the connection during repeated use.

The design also incorporates IP58 certification against moisture, dust and splashes, as well as a repairable design intended to extend the service life of the equipment when subjected to repeated handling. The 90-degree cable routing minimises mechanical stress around the connection, and the overall ergonomics facilitate installation and adjustment, with a non-reflective finish suited to stage environments where visual discretion is particularly important for staging and broadcasting.
