Presentation
With the Neva Uno, ESI Audiotechnik is offering a deliberately simple audio interface for those who want to record and broadcast quickly without unnecessary complexity. Its small size and USB-C power supply mean it can be placed on a desk, in a bag or at the heart of a mobile setup. The approach is straightforward: plug in, set the levels and start working.
The input section is based on an XLR / 6.35 mm jack combo input capable of accepting a microphone or line source, combined with +48 V phantom power for condenser microphones. A second jack input accepts line or instrument signals via a dedicated Hi-Z mode, so you can record a guitar or bass without an additional box. Gain controls, accompanied by LED indicators, make it easy to check levels as soon as you pick them up.
On the output side, Neva Uno has a pair of line outputs on RCA connectors for connection to active speakers, plus an independent headphone output on 6.35 mm jack. Switch-activated hardware direct monitoring allows sources to be listened to without latency during recording, an important feature for voice recording, podcasting or live streaming. The single volume control provides simple, consistent monitoring control.
Technically, the interface is based on converters capable of operating at up to 24-bit/192kHz, with a comfortable dynamic range at both input and output. On Windows, the ASIO 2.0 drivers ensure low latency and incorporate a hardware loopback function, useful for internal recording of audio streams or live broadcasting. On macOS, native CoreAudio compatibility means you can get started straight away without installing a driver.
Neva Uno comes with a software package geared towards production, editing and mobile creation, as well as temporary access to an online music collaboration solution. It is a coherent solution for starting out or adding to an existing setup, whether for recording voice, producing music or managing streaming audio content, with a minimum of hardware and a quick learning curve.
