ESI Audiotechnik - U24 XL

With the U24 XL interface, ESI Audiotechnik is continuing the approach that has made the Waveterminal series famous: offering an extremely compact audio interface that is easy to transport, while maintaining conversion quality suitable for serious use in audio production. This model is distinguished by its small, pocket-sized form factor, and by a design geared towards flexibility, both in the studio and on the move.

The interface provides two analogue inputs and two analogue outputs on 6.35mm TRS connectors, allowing line sources and monitoring systems to be integrated without any particular constraints. One of the outputs can also be used as a headphone output, making the U24 XL ideal for minimalist set-ups where space and the number of connections must be kept to a minimum. Direct monitoring of input signals means that takes can be followed in real time, with controlled latency.

The special feature of the U24 XL is the full integration of S/PDIF digital inputs and outputs, available in both Toslink optical and RCA coaxial formats. This dual connectivity makes it possible to exchange digital audio streams with external converters, digital preamps, processors or recorders, without degrading the signal. It offers a practical solution for integrating the U24 XL into hybrid audio systems, combining analogue and digital.

On the software side, the interface benefits from low-latency ASIO 2.0 drivers on Windows, ensuring compatibility with all major audio workstations. On macOS, native CoreAudio support means it can be used immediately, without complex installation. This versatility ensures easy integration with the majority of audio production, editing and playback software.
