Presentation
The ESI Audiotechnik planet 22c has been designed as a simple, reliable and accurate bridge between the analogue world and Dante audio networks. Its extremely compact size and robust design make it ideal for both fixed installations and mobile or remote configurations, where space and flexibility are essential.
This interface offers two balanced analogue inputs and two balanced analogue outputs, capable of operating at both -10 dBV consumer level and +4 dBu professional level. This extensive compatibility means that analogue consoles, active loudspeakers, amplifiers, synthesizers, external processors and audio measurement equipment can be connected directly to a Dante network without any constraints. The linearity of the frequency response and the precision of the converters make the planet 22c perfectly suited to applications requiring faithful reproduction of the signal.
Conversion is carried out by renowned BurrBrown components, with a 24-bit analogue-to-digital converter offering wide dynamic range and an equally high-performance digital-to-analogue converter. The signal remains clean, detailed and coherent throughout the entire bandwidth, enabling seamless integration into professional audio environments, whether for broadcast, sound reinforcement or studio use.
One of the planet 22c's major assets is its power supply. It can operate either via the 12 V mains power supply supplied, or directly via the Ethernet cable thanks to Power over Ethernet. This greatly simplifies installation in isolated locations, remote racks or places where access to a mains socket is limited.
In a music production environment, the planet 22c can also be used as a network audio interface in conjunction with the optional Dante Virtual Soundcard software for macOS and Windows. It then becomes a reliable analogue input and output point within a modern IP audio system, while maintaining extremely low latency, dependent only on network configuration.
