Marcus Miller is an American bassist, composer and producer renowned for his immense influence on jazz fusion and funk. Born in Brooklyn in 1959, he began playing music at a very early age, thanks to his father, an organist. He mastered several instruments, but his Fender Jazz bass remains his trademark. In the 1980s, he collaborated with a number of major artists including Miles Davis, Luther Vandross and David Sanborn. His precise, groovy and highly melodic playing quickly became a worldwide benchmark. Marcus Miller has also won several Grammy Awards and regularly composes soundtracks for cinema and international television.
