Martinez - Flamenco MFG-RS + Housse

The rasgueado resonates through the Martinez MFG-RS with that crisp, dry, woody sound so characteristic of the flamenco guitar. The rosewood back and sides give the bass end more depth, whilst the solid spruce top lends the attack its liveliness and projection. The notes remain crisp under the fingers, with enough presence to accompany the vocals without overpowering them. Just a few chords are enough to evoke the spirit of an Andalusian tablao.

With its 650 mm scale length (25.59 inches), the Martinez MFG-RS keeps the strings taut under the strum, with a firm feel that suits both a forceful ‘toque’ and falsetas. The 52 mm (2.05-inch) nut provides more space between the strings and allows for greater freedom in left-hand positioning. Its 90 mm sides give the body a deep resonance chamber, ideal for rich bass tones. On stage, the gloss finish catches the light whilst protecting the wood.

The Martinez MFG-RS is part of a flamenco tradition that the brand has been cultivating since its inception in Germany in 1978. Since establishing itself in Guangzhou in 2005, the brand has worked with the American luthier Kenny Hill as a technical adviser and remains committed to Spanish methods, with a careful selection of woods. With the manufacturer’s reference MFGRS, its 4/4 size retains the proportions of a full-size guitar, with the necessary volume for toque, baile and cante. The included gig bag accompanies the instrument between rehearsals and concerts.
