Some guitars make a loud statement with their electronics, whilst others prefer the silence of raw wood: the MC-118S RN belongs to the latter category – a classic acoustic guitar free from the artifice of cables, where everything is determined by the body and the fingers. The solid European spruce top delivers a crisp, resonant attack – a choice that emphasises the clarity of the traditional classical repertoire.

The Indian rosewood sides, back and bridge lend depth to the bass, whilst the Indian rosewood binding creates a crisp outline around the body. Maple and ebony purfling runs across the top, whilst maple purfling runs along the back and sides, and the inlaid natural wood mosaic rosette surrounds the soundhole with a meticulous pattern.

On the mahogany neck, the rosewood fingerboard features 20 frets, 12 of which extend to the body, marked by mother-of-pearl inlays at the 5th, 7th and 9th frets. The two-way adjustable truss rod keeps the neck’s curvature stable over time, supported by a 52 mm bone nut and a bone saddle, which transmit vibration without loss.

The Spanish fan-bracing and Spanish neck joint are features of a tried-and-tested classic construction, with no pickguard to leave the soundboard exposed. The gold-finished Martinez Gold Tuning Machines 118/128 hold the tuning securely, and the factory-fitted Martinez strings complete the instrument, which is supplied in its Martinez Gigbag with a scale length of 650 mm.
