Presentation
MOTU Digital Performer 12 Upgrade is an upgrade licence intended for users who already own a previous version of Digital Performer. It provides access to Digital Performer 12 and its comprehensive suite of tools for music production, recording, audio editing, MIDI sequencing, mixing, mastering, score-to-picture composition and sound design.
Digital Performer 12 retains MOTU’s versatile DAW approach whilst introducing several major new features. These include AI-assisted stem separation, which allows users to extract different elements from a mix, including drums, bass, guitar, vocals, and string and brass sections. This feature can be used to retrieve specific stems, remove an element from the mix or work with different combinations of sources.
Version 12 also introduces the Arrangement Strip, designed to quickly re-organise the different sections of a track, as well as an improved Track Freeze system that allows you to freeze a track whilst continuing to work on the mix.
For immersive production, Digital Performer 12 supports Dolby Atmos up to 9.1.6, with support for beds, audio objects, panning and positioning metadata, as well as an internal renderer and binaural rendering.
The production environment includes over 300 instruments, around 1,100 presets, 500 loops and 90 real-time audio and MIDI effects. DP12 also offers comprehensive music notation tools with MusicXML support, video and shot-to-shot composition features, as well as a wide range of MIDI and audio tools.
This Upgrade version is therefore a solution for Digital Performer users who wish to upgrade their licence to DP12 and benefit from its new features without purchasing a full licence.

The Upgrade should be presented as an upgrade requiring a previous eligible licence, and not as a standalone full licence.
DP12’s Stem Separation feature can be used, for example, to isolate vocals or instruments from an existing mix in order to remix them, create a mashup or work on an instrument separately. For music productions intended for immersive listening, Dolby Atmos support allows you to work directly within DP12 without having to use an external environment for Atmos rendering.
