Novastar - LCB2K

In a digital signage installation, the delivery of content depends as much on how the media files are managed as on the performance of the display itself. The NovaStar LCB2K handles this aspect by storing programmes directly in its internal memory and ensuring they are played back on the display. Its compact size allows it to be discreetly integrated into an installation whilst retaining a range of communication options with surrounding equipment.

The HDMI 1.3 output serves as the main interface for the display, with a resolution of up to 1,920 × 1,080 at 60 Hz. The player also features a scaling function and supports custom resolutions with a width of up to 4,096 pixels. This flexibility allows the signal to be adapted to different screen configurations, rather than limiting the player’s use to a single video format.

Media processing is handled by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, supported by 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. Content can be loaded via Ethernet or USB interfaces, and then stored locally for standalone playback. The 3.5 mm jack for stereo audio output allows sound to be added when the display project involves more than just video.

The NovaStar LCB2K also features connectivity suited to installations where players are spread across different sites. Ethernet and Wi-Fi provide network connectivity, whilst an optional 4G module can take over when a wired connection is unavailable. The Wi-Fi includes its own access point mode and the antenna is supplied with the unit.

For programming and operation, the player integrates with the VIPLEX Express, VIPLEX Handy and VNNOX solutions. Content can therefore be prepared, broadcast or modified remotely, depending on the network configuration. Time-synchronisation functions, with support for NTP and optional GPS or RF modules, also pave the way for installations comprising multiple screens that need to display coordinated content.
