Novastar - MFN300-B

In an LED installation, certain functions do not directly relate to image processing but are nonetheless essential for the system to operate correctly. Brightness measurement, temperature monitoring, control of external equipment or serial communication may require several separate interfaces. The NovaStar MFN300-B combines these auxiliary functions in a single unit and makes them accessible via the display’s network.

It operates via an Ethernet connection: the two RJ45 ports allow the MFN300-B to be integrated directly into the network used by the installation. It is therefore not necessary to position it in the immediate vicinity of the processor or any other NovaStar equipment. This architecture offers greater flexibility to install the unit where the sensors, controls or devices to be controlled are actually located.

Two ports dedicated to light sensors and two others for temperature sensors allow data from the display’s environment to be incorporated. This data can, in particular, be used to integrate monitoring or adaptation functions into a system equipped with NovaStar control solutions.

The MFN300-B also features eight normally closed (NC) relay contacts. This interface can be used to control various pieces of equipment or external circuits from the display’s control environment. An RS-232 connection completes the package for communicating with devices featuring a serial interface, whilst a balanced 3.5 mm audio output allows an audio signal to be retrieved.

With its aluminium casing, convection cooling and built-in mains power supply, the NovaStar MFN300-B remains relatively straightforward to integrate into a technical infrastructure. It is therefore designed for LED installations that require more than just video signal management, adding sensor, control and communication interfaces to the NovaStar network within a dedicated unit.
