Novastar - MCTRL 300

The NovaStar MCTRL 300 is a particularly compact video control solution for LED installations that do not require a full-featured video processor. Its main function is to receive content from a computer or another video source, process the data required for display, and then transmit it to the screen’s receiver cards. With its DVI input and the capacity to handle up to approximately 1.3 million pixels, it is suitable for medium-sized LED set-ups whilst remaining easy to integrate into an installation.

The connectivity options include everything needed for immediate use. The video signal is input via DVI, whilst an audio input allows sound to be transmitted alongside the content. Two Gigabit RJ45 outputs then distribute the data to the LED screen. They can also operate with redundancy between the ports, so as to maintain transmission should a network link encounter a problem.

The MCTRL 300 also features a dedicated interface for a NovaStar light sensor. This measures ambient brightness and enables the system to automatically adjust the screen’s brightness level. This feature is particularly useful when the display operates under varying lighting conditions, especially in spaces where natural light changes throughout the day.

The controller can be operated directly from a computer via the USB Type-B port. The UART ports, meanwhile, allow several units to be daisy-chained to ensure coordinated control across a setup comprising multiple controllers. NovaStar’s calibration technology rounds off the package, making it easier to achieve a display with consistent brightness and colour.

With its independent power supply, passive cooling and compact metal casing, the NovaStar MCTRL 300 fits easily into a control room, a fixed installation, an event setup or any LED screen configuration controlled from a computer.
