Presentation
With its unique mixed tone generator, the JD-Xi gives you the best of both worlds: the warmth and smooth response of analogue, the clarity and versatility of digital. The newly developed analogue monophonic synth section features sawtooth, triangle, square, PWM and analogue filter waveforms, plus an independent sub-oscillator for powerful low frequencies. The two digital synth sections offer 128-voice polyphony and a wide range of high-quality SuperNATURAL sounds, including pads, strings, electric pianos, sound effects and more.
The JD-Xi is equipped with a high-quality boom microphone that will expand your sound palette. Using the Vocoder while singing into the mic, you can control the timbre and pitch of your voice from sounds played on the keyboard. With AutoPitch, it's easy to produce the robotic vocal sounds that have become classic in pop and electronic music. And the ingenious Auto Note function lets you 'sing' the JD-Xi's synth sounds without touching the keyboard!
Using the intuitive pattern sequencer and the wide range of on-board sounds, you can create elaborate music using just the JD-Xi. The sequencer can handle four separate parts - two digital parts, one analogue part and one drum part - allowing you to create rich, elaborate musical loops in any style. Real-time or step recording is possible, as well as a special TR-REC recording mode for programming in the style of Roland's classic TR- drum machines. It's easy to create patterns and change sounds in real time, and the many preset patterns let you make music right out of the box.
With its dynamic drum kits, the JD-Xi is capable of producing quality rhythms to suit all styles, whether acoustic or electronic. Key assignments are clearly displayed for quick identification. You can customise your kits by modifying the filter, envelope, pitch and stereo distribution of each of the drum sounds that make up the kit.
The JD-Xi offers four simultaneous effects sections to enhance the sounds of your choice. The Effect 1 and 2 sections offer Bit Crusher, Slicer and Ring Mod sound processing, while the Delay and Reverb sections make it easy to add spatialization. Each effect section can be engaged or disengaged independently for the three synth sections and the drums, allowing you to shape your sound without restricting your creativity.
