Supro - Black Magick Head

Whilst some amp heads cover the full spectrum of functions, the Supro Black Magick Head takes the opposite approach. Twenty-five watts, two 6973 power tubes — an octal tube with a dark, biting character, less common than the 6L6 or the EL34, but whose natural compression under load produces a saturation of singular density. Four 12AX7 preamp tubes shape the signal upstream, with two distinct channels controlled by Volume 1 and Volume 2: two gain characteristics across two independent instrument inputs, with no electronic switching.
The only built-in effect is tremolo — and this is a choice driven as much by sound engineering as by design. Speed and Depth control its pulse, from a barely perceptible quiver to the deep chopping sound of the 1960s. No reverb, no effects loop: the head remains transparent to the signal, making it particularly responsive to upstream pedals. The simple footswitch, sold separately, toggles the tremolo from the pedalboard.
The poplar cabinet, finished in cream and black Black Rhino Hide, with a Supro Silver/Black grille and Dog Bone handle, gives the head the signature look of the series. The multiple outputs — 16, 2 × 8 and 2 × 4 ohms — cover all speaker cabinet configurations on the market, both in the studio and on tour.
