DPA - 4099 CORE+ Mic, Extreme SPL

The DPA 4099 CORE+ Extreme SPL is the new standard for close miking of loud instruments. Designed for demanding stage environments, it combines the precision of DPA sound with exceptional acoustic resistance. This Extreme SPL version (identified by the yellow ring on the gooseneck) pushes back the limits of instrument recording, handling up to 152 dB SPL without saturation or distortion, for faithful, detailed reproduction of even the most powerful percussion or brass instruments.

Its CORE+ technology, a direct evolution of the famous DPA CORE system, further enhances transparency and sound definition. The dynamic range is 10 dB wider than in the previous generation, while the saturation threshold is a further 3 dB higher. This gain in headroom makes it possible to record or amplify instruments with high acoustic pressure while preserving the natural timbre and finesse of the harmonics.

The supercardioid pattern of the 4099 CORE+ ensures effective isolation of neighbouring sources and excellent rejection of off-axis sound. Its linear off-axis response maintains tonal coherence, even in close stage conditions. Combined with a pre-polarised electret capsule, this design guarantees stable, detailed reproduction with no artificial coloration, ideal for live performance, touring or studio recording.

DPA has also redesigned the ergonomics and mechanical reliability of this model. The new shock-absorbing suspension system effectively isolates vibrations and structure-borne noise from the instrument, while the gooseneck mount provides smooth, stable and precise positioning. The secure, detachable MicroLock® connector ensures full compatibility with DPA adapters (such as the DAD6001-BC or DAD4099-BC) for wired or wireless use as required.

This microphone is IP58-rated, making it resistant to dust and humidity - an asset for outdoor stages and intensive touring. Its light weight, discreet design and matt finish limit light reflections, making it almost invisible on stage or in front of the camera.

Sold here without a clip, the 4099 CORE+ Extreme SPL is compatible with the entire range of DPA clips (guitar, drums, brass, piano, violin, etc.), offering great flexibility of use. Whatever the configuration, it retains a clear, balanced reproduction faithful to the source, with no compression of the spectrum or saturation of transients.
