Presentation
The EMG RA-2 Retro Active Crossroads is a set of active single-coil pickups mounted on a pre-wired pickguard, designed for Stratocaster guitars.
Its distinctive feature is the use of Alnico 2 magnets, which provide a softer, rounder tone, close to the classic sounds of greats like Clapton, Beck and Hendrix. The system retains the traditional wiring, with a volume potentiometer, two tone potentiometers that act on the neck and middle pickups only, and a 5-position selector switch, providing great tonal versatility.
Each pickup has a different resonance frequency: 4.5 kHz for the neck pickup, 3.3 kHz for the middle pickup and 2.9 kHz for the bridge pickup. This configuration produces balanced combinations and well-defined tones in the intermediate positions 2 and 4. The bridge pickup has a more incisive sound, while positions 1, 3 and 5 deliver classic blues tones.
The lower output impedance helps to better transmit the signal, resulting in a more accurate and responsive response, even to the slightest variations in playability.
The whole set is pre-wired on a black pickguard, making installation quick and straightforward.
